EXPO-SURFACE 2021, Kielce – Protecting surfaces in times of change
The twelfth edition of the Anti-Corrosion and Surface Protection Technology Fair EXPO-SURFACE 2021 was held in Kielce on 19-21 October 2021 as part of the "Industrial Autumn" series. The event brought together specialists related to varnishing, surface preparation, protective coatings and all processes accompanying the protection of industrial surfaces.
Scale, attendance and profile of participants
Although the pandemic continued to affect the organisation of events, EXPO-SURFACE 2021 attracted nearly 3,500 visitors from industry professionals. Exhibitors were faced with the opportunity to present their solutions to manufacturers, bodyshops and coating service providers - both locally and internationally. In addition to the exhibition stands, there were other events of the STOM series, which further increased the number of industry visitors.
Dominant themes, most interesting presentations
EXPO-SURFACE 2021 had a clear focus on surface protection processes against corrosion - both by chemical and mechanical methods. Demonstrations included equipment for surface preparation (e.g. shotblasting machines, sandblasters), equipment for painting and application of protective coatings, as well as ancillary components such as paint guns and membrane pumps.
Other important topics were quality control systems for coatings, measurement tools and durability tests of coatings under real conditions. Participants were also interested in innovations in coating materials - especially those that reduce the consumption of raw materials and limit harmful emissions.

Atmosphere, business talks and exchange of experience
Although the event took place under pandemic conditions, EXPO-SURFACE 2021 was full of business talks and networking. Exhibitors, especially from the paint industry, emphasised that the opportunity to present products (paints, coatings, application equipment) in person was extremely important to them after the period of restrictions. For many companies, the trade fair stand was an opportunity to gather feedback from users on the convenience of use, performance and quality of coatings application. There were also foreign stands and the presence of companies offering advanced technologies - an indication that even in difficult times, companies want to remain innovative and competitive.
Conclusions and relevance to the paint company
For companies such as ROMER - which are active in the fields of powder coating, protective coatings and applicators - EXPO-SURFACE 2021 was an important reference point:
- showed which solutions are sought after by users (ease of application, material saving, energy efficiency),
- unveiled trends in coating materials and application technologies that can inspire your own product improvements,
- confirmed the importance of direct customer contact, demonstrations and tests in a trade fair environment as key in winning partners and orders.
